Independent accessibility assessment

NatSol composting toilet review of accessibility Some years ago we employed MaceMark Access Consultants Ltd to assess our toilets and we made a number of improvements based on this review. You can read their article in Access by Design here.

NatSol is committed to meeting the requirements as set out in Part M of the Building Regulations (England & Wales); and Sections 4.1 and 4.2 in the Scottish regulations as far as it is possible to do so on remote sites.

Our cubicles are larger than required in Part M. The only difficulty in meeting regulations is the stipulation for an alarm system which needs electricity. Some clients have added alarm systems running from renewable electricity generated on site. We are cautious about such an approach because renewable systems can run down (e.g. due to lack of sun or wind) and may give a false sense of security. One also has to ask the question, 'Who will hear and respond to the alarm should it be set off?'
